Damon Lindelof’s WATCHMEN Series Adds Three Children To Its Cast
Who’s watching the Watchmen? HBO is hoping you will, soon. A new series is coming from Damon Lindelof. It is not a remake of the graphic novel or the movie, but more an adjacent story taking place in that world. The cast is pretty impressive so far, and now there are even more actors to join the project.
Deadline reports that Dylan Schombing (Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, Sharp Objects), Adelynn Spoon and Lily Rose Smith (The Vampire Diaries) have joined the cast. All three of these actors are children. It is noted that they are cast for the pilot. It is not known whether their roles will be extended past that.
No roles have been released for anyone cast in the series, but it looks like these kids could play siblings.
Watchmen stars Regina King, Jeremy Irons, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Adelaide Clemens, Andrew Howard, Tom Mison, Frances Fisher, Jacob Ming-Trent, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Sara Vickers. The show is written and produced by Damon Lindelof.
Set in an alternate history where “superheroes” are treated as outlaws, Watchmen embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel while attempting to break new ground of its own.
I read the graphic novel of Watchmen which was pretty great. I have not seen the movie yet, but it won’t matter for this series. This almost feels like a Castle Rock take with King’s properties. The series takes place in a world where the Watchmen exists, but seems to have a ton of regular human characters. Which means you don’t need to know anything about the characters, you will be filled in with the essential information when the main characters learn what they need to know.
I have a rough track record with things Lindelof has written. Hopefully this won’t be one of those.
Are you excited for this? Let us know.
