At San Diego Comic Con a couple of weeks ago, the Venom trailer shown exclusively to attendees of Sony’s Hall H panel was the talk of the town. Some even said it was the trailer that generated the most hype, which is why it was so sad for some when it didn’t make its way onto the web immediately.
Thankfully, the wait to lay our eyes on more Venom goodness was not too long, as Sony has just released the official second trailer for the film. It covers a lot of the same ground, and uses mostly the same footage as what was shown at SDCC. You can check it out right here:
One of Marvel’s most enigmatic, complex and badass characters comes to the big screen, starring Academy Award® nominated actor Tom Hardy as the lethal protector Venom.
Venom stars Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, and surrounds him with a very solid supporting cast. That supporting cast includes Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Jenny Slate, Scott Haze, and Reid Scott. The film is directed by Ruben Fleischer, who’s best known for Zombieland.
The film is a spin-off set within Sony’s Spider-Verse that won’t actually feature the iconic wall-crawler, despite some early rumors that Peter Parker may show up in the film. Since it’s a Sony production, the film will not be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is an easy pill to swallow for now but will become a little confusing if they decide to bring Spidey into the fray in a sequel.
Venom will arrive in theaters (with snacks in hand, of course) on October 5.
