DOCTOR WHO: The First Teaser Is Here

Read Time:1 Minute, 44 Second

The newest season of Doctor Who is going to be here before we know it. We are slowly getting more and more information about it. Yesterday the BBC released a small teaser during the World Cup final, focusing on the companions. You can watch it below.

This teaser is great, it does exactly what it was supposed to do. It shows the companions, and sets the tone of what the season will be. It has a very whimsical and magical feel to it, something that has been missing the last couple of years.

While the teaser seems pretty straightforward, there are some Easter eggs in there for the die hard fans.

First, the magazine that was given to Bradley Walsh:

It is the same magazine as read by Matt Smith’s 11th Doctor in the season 7 episode “The Rings of Akhaten”. I didn’t notice it until Lizo Mzimba, an entertainment journalist for the BBC pointed it out.

But what I did notice was the commentary on the TV in the background. It was not random.

So like I said, it was a tone-setting teaser. It was meant to be nothing more. If you want more, you will need to wait until Thursday, where it was confirmed we will get something else after their panel at San Diego Comic Con, as confirmed by the official Doctor Who account for BBC America.

I’ll make sure somebody brings the trailer to you on Thursday, as I will be in San Diego and unable to write. This is the most excited I’ve been for a new season of Doctor Who in a long time. We do not have an official air date yet, but I assume we will get one on Thursday. I assume it will be in October some time.

What did you think of this colorful, whimsical teaser?

Doctor Who will air on BBC One and BBC America this fall.
