CAPTAIN MARVEL: Filming Has Wrapped And Feige Discusses ‘De-Aging’ Nick Fury And Coulson
Now that Ant-Man and The Wasp has been released, the next movie in the MCU is Captain Marvel. The film is released in March of next year, only a couple of months before Avengers 4 comes out.
Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel Studios, sat down for an interview with /Film, and revealed a few details. The movie was rumored to take place in the 90s, and Feige confirmed that by talking about Samuel L. Jackson reprising his role as Nick Fury.
“Sam Jackson is shooting a movie for us right now that takes, where he’s entirely 25 years younger the whole movie [Captain Marvel].
He isn’t the only one, Clark Gregg returns as Agent Coulson, and will be digitally de-aged as well.
“And Coulson. So that’ll be the first one where it’s a character for the whole movie, as opposed to a glimpse at a certain period of time. It’s the whole movie. So it’s possible, assuming that works. It’s possible.”
Feige says they will be de-aged 25 years, which means the movie will take place in 1994. They have used the de-aging method before. It was just recently utilized in Ant-Man and The Wasp. But up until now, it has only been a scene or two. The best one was when it was used to make a young Robert Downey Jr. appear in Captain America: Civil War. So far, it has been fine to see for a few minutes. But to do it for a whole movie will certainly be an experiment. Granted, Jackson and Gregg are supporting roles, so their screen time will be more limited than that of Brie Larson. But it will still be the largest use of the movie yet. Hopefully it’s not distracting like Tarkin was in Rogue One.
They have a bit of time to get the effects perfect now, because filming has just wrapped. Larson took to Twitter to show the clapboard and a calendar.

According to this, filming wrapped last Friday and Larson now has F R E E D O M as the calendar suggests.
That means they can get working on the special effects, and we can get a trailer soon.
When we get more information on Captain Marvel we will be sure to pass it along.
Captain Marvel hits theaters March 8, 2019.
