Stephen Amell Puts an ARROW Rumor To Rest
The last season of Arrow ended with a bang….well, it was more of a quiet confession. But our protagonist is going to prison. How long he will exactly be there is a mystery, but hopefully its long enough that they can adapt the abandoned Super Max movie.
A DC Comics News Fan Instagram account made a claim that they knew how long Oliver Queen would be in prison, only to quickly get shot down by Stephen Amell himself.
This account claims that Oliver will be in prison for 3 episodes in season 7, to which Amell replies:
False. https://t.co/1X1KBUH2SH

Now, that doesn’t necessarily mean they are taking the “Flashpoint” route and will abandon it after 1 episode like The Flash did, then just deal with the impact of it the rest of the season. “False” could mean he is in prison for 10 episodes. Or 20. However, if I was willing to bet, Oliver will be out of prison and become the Green Arrow again in time for the annual Arrowverse crossover. A crossover which features Batwoman and Gotham City this time. Last season, the crossover happened in November, about 8 episodes into everybody’s respective seasons. So if it happens around the same time this year, then expect Oliver Queen in jail 5-6 episodes, before he is released in time to travel to Gotham City with the Flash, Supergirl and the Legends.
Of course, that doesn’t mean he can’t go back to prison. There can be paperwork irregularity that grants him a temporary reprieve, then after the crossover it is resolved and he goes right back in. Or, Team Arrow could spring him, replace him with The Human Target and then go back in, with no one the wiser.
While I’m certain he will be out of prison for the crossover, there is no telling how many episodes he will actually spend in prison. Amell has stated in the past that he wants this season written like it is Arrow‘s last, in the sense of not holding anything back. If they have an idea, do it, don’t wait. So anything could happen.
The seventh season of Arrow premieres on its new night, Monday October 15, at 8/7C only on The CW.
“There has been no shortage of close calls for Oliver Queen when it comes to protecting his Super Hero identity, but in the season six finale, he was finally backed into a corner and forced to reveal himself to the world as the Green Arrow. Now, Oliver will come face-to-face with many of the criminals he placed behind bars, as he makes a new home for himself at Slabside Maximum Security Prison. Oliver will find himself vulnerable in a way unlike ever before when a mysterious new enemy begins to unravel his work as Green Arrow, challenging him to redeem his name or risk losing everything.”
