Edgar Wright Teases BABY DRIVER Sequel On The Film’s First Anniversary

Read Time:1 Minute, 35 Second

While it wasn’t my personal favorite film last year, Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver was easily among the top movies I saw in 2017. Aside from Wright’s excellent craftsmanship as a filmmaker, the film married his sense of humor and originality with all sorts of music and tension. The end result was a critical and financial hit. Needless to say, it wasn’t long after that Wright began talking about a potential sequel to the film. And now Wright’s seemingly at it again.

On the one year anniversary of the film’s release, Wright took to Twitter with the following quote:

Baby Driver‘ was released one year ago today. Had a wild ride with it in the last 365 days. so I thank you for all your beautiful responses, it means everything. And who knows, maybe he could get back on the road soon…

For the record, there’s no word yet that a Baby Driver 2 has been greenlit. Moreover there’s no guarantee yet that Wright himself will be return as the director when the film does officially move into production, seeing as how Wright has yet to ever helm a sequel to one of his movies himself.

Then again, never say never. After all, all of this talk about a sequel for Baby Driver has been coming from Wright himself, so he’ll almost certainly be personally involved to some degree. At the very least, I’d be willing to bet he writes the script for Baby Driver 2. I’d say it’s still pretty likely that Wright also directs the film, but it’s worth considering the possibility that he doesn’t.

What do you think? Are you hoping Wright returns to direct Baby Driver 2? Are you hoping Wright opts not to direct the film and instead work on another entirely original project of his design? Be sure to share your thoughts with us in the comments section below!
