Krysten Ritter Will Direct An Episode of JESSICA JONES In Season 3

Read Time:2 Minute, 3 Second

Krysten Ritter has starred as Jessica Jones for Marvel on Netflix for 2 seasons, and for The Defenders miniseries. She is about to get a new role on the best Marvel show however (don’t @ me, Daredevil fans). She will direct an episode of the upcoming season.

The third season is currently in production in New York City. Ritter said:

“I am beyond thrilled to make my directorial debut on Marvel’s Jessica Jones. The entire crew and cast has become family to me, and I’m so appreciative of the opportunity to work with our incredible team in this new way. I am so grateful that Melissa Rosenberg, Jeph Loeb, Marvel, and Netflix entrusted me to take the reins.”

The second season was significant in that all 13 episodes were directed by women. No word if that is happening again for season 3, but we know at least one will.

It is nice when someone with such talent can attempt to flex another muscle. It is happening a lot, David Ramsey, who plays John Diggle on Arrow will direct his first ever episode in their upcoming 7th season. Clark Gregg, who plays Agent Coulson on Agents of SHIELD also directed his first ever episode this season.

We won’t know an actor’s talent and prowess for directing until they try it. Who knows, Ritter could be the next Ben Affleck – meaning she could be just as talented behind the camera as she is in front of it.

There hasn’t been a release date set for the third season of Jessica Jones but if it is filming now, it could be relatively soon. We still have the second seasons of The Punisher, and Iron Fist, plus the third season of Daredevil in the chamber as well. Not to mention that the paint hasn’t even dried on the second season of Luke Cage which just came out less than a week ago. (You can read RTF’s review of it here!) So who knows when Jessica Jones will return. It could be some time next year.

If we get a concrete release date, we will be sure to let you know. If you haven’t watched the show, do yourself a favor and catch up. Season 1 and 2 are streaming right now, exclusively on Netflix.
