Michael Douglas Open to Playing a Younger Hank Pym in a ANT-MAN Prequel

Read Time:1 Minute, 39 Second

In the past couple of years, Marvel has effectively used de-aging technology for flashbacks in their films.

One of the first Marvel films to use this tech was in the first Ant-Man, where CGI was used to de-age actor Michael Douglas for a flashback involving his character, Hank Pym. Now, the Academy Award-winning actor is up for a prequel film with the younger Pym.

Douglas spoke to Screen Rant while promoting Ant-Man and the Wasp and said, if the opportunity presented itself, he would be open to be de-aged again to explore Pym in his prime as Ant-Man.

I’d like to see [Pym], if there’s magic, we do movie magic in terms of flashbacks. How about getting Hank back to his prime age as the Original Ant-Man and kick some serious ass? I’m ready. I’m geared. I need a good stunt double. You know, I’ll find him, but now you can make me look 40 years younger let’s do the whole job!

While it’s cool to see Douglas wanting to play the younger Pym again, the big problem for Marvel would be having to spend a lot of time and money on a film surrounding a de-aged character. Like Robert Downey Jr. in Captain America: Civil War and Kurt Russell in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Douglas’ de-aged counterpart was only in Ant-Man for a few minutes. Having a film dedicated to a de-aged character would be really expensive and I don’t see Marvel making that big of a financial risk.

Regardless if we see a de-aged Hank Pym in a movie of his own, it’s great to see Douglas is that enthusiastic to give it a try. For now, Douglas and the fans will have to settle on Pym’s mentor role in the current Ant-Man films.

Ant-Man and the Wasp hits theaters on July 6.
