MARVEL: Kevin Feige Teases Quantum Realm’s Future
It truly is impressive what Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has managed to do with mass audiences. Over the course of the past decade, Feige and his team of directors and screenwriters have introduced audiences to more and more superheroes that most have either only just heard about or not at all. With these heroes, Feige has also introduced all sorts of lore within the MCU and conditioned viewers not to question anything.
Talking raccoon wielding a machine gun? Audiences fall in love with him. A sentient planet named “Ego” that’s able to manifest itself as a humanoid being that happens to look just like Kurt Russell? No one blinks. A giant purple-skinned Deebo on a morality quest to wipe out half the universe? “This guy is the best villain since Darth Vader!”
Next on Feige’s list of things to condition audiences to just accept as part of the film and not do spins in their chairs trying to figure it out is the Quantum Realm. Something that played a brief, but important role in 2015’s Ant-Man and will be featured at an even greater length in the soon-to-be-released Ant-Man and the Wasp. And judging by Feige’s comments at a recent conference for the latter film when asked about this other dimension, it seems that audiences can expect to see quite a bit more of the Quantum Realm moving forward past this latest entry in the MCU.
“There are things that you see back there that Peyton has put in there. Where and how they pay off in the near term and the long term remains to be seen.“
Personally, my money is on the Quantum Realm having something to do with either where Alison Brie’s Captain Marvel has been for the past twenty-plus years or will play a pivotal part in somehow bringing back a majority of the casualties from Avengers: Infinity War in next year’s untitled Avengers 4 film.
