RUMORS: Massive Info Dump On Upcoming JOKER Movie
Is it just me or does it seem like we’re currently in the Season of Joker? Hot off the heels of the rumors of Todd Phillips’ Joker origin film starting production in September, even more rumors have hit the Internet. Even more than just the big one you probably already heard about at another website by now, such as the film’s working title “Romeo.”
Speaking of which, the big one: According to ThatHashtagShow, Hollywood legend Robert DeNiro is currently being eyed for a part in the Joker film. While I am a little stunned at this development, it does make sense in hindsight. After all, the Joker film is being produced by Martin Scorsese- a longtime collaborator with DeNiro. In fact, this wouldn’t even be the first time that Scorsese looked at trying to talk one of his old friends to play a part in the film, as the team initially wanted to get Leonardo DiCaprio to star in the titular role. However, it’s important to remember that so far DeNiro is only being “targeted” for the part right now.
Which brings us to the obvious question: “Who would Robert DeNiro be playing in a Joker origin story movie?”
As it turns out, ThatHashtagShow’s source report on DeNiro doubles as a list of descriptions for eight characters that will appear in Phillips’ film alongside Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker. DeNiro, for instance, is being eyed to play a character named “Murray Franklin.” According to the site, this character is aged somewhere between 65 to 75 years old and is a caucasian male. Little else is known about him beyond that, but the site claims the character is a “very strong supporting” role. Other character descriptions such as “Penny,” “Sophie Dumond” and “Randall” offer more specific details to their characters, so definitely check that out if you’re interested.
To cap all of this off, ThatHashtagShow followed up with another report offering details on Phillips’ production crew for the Joker film. For starters, Phillips will be re-teaming with his frequent cinematographer Lawrence Sher. Beyond that, Mark Scoon will executive produce the film as he has for the two Wonder Woman films so far. Mark Friedberg and Mark Bridges will work as Production Designer and Costume Designer respectively. Lastly Shayna Markowitz will act as the film’s casting director.
