VENOM Director Talks About Possible Appearance from Tom Holland’s Spider-Man

Read Time:1 Minute, 33 Second

As the countdown to Venom continues, many continue to wonder if his arch-nemesis – Spider-Man – will make an appearance in the upcoming film.

Last year, rumors began to surface that Tom Holland’s version of the web swinger would cameo in Venom. Speaking with Empire Magazine, Venom director Ruben Fleischer discussed the possibility of Holland showing up in the film.

This feels very much like Venom’s movie. It’s the introduction of the character. As to where it will go in future movies, and who he’ll run across, I can’t say.

It has been confirmed that Venom is not set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so the appearance of Spider-Man or Peter Parker in the film would create a bit of a mess that Marvel and Sony would have to clean up. Flesicher’s comments suggest we may not see Holland in this film, but that may not rule out an appearance in the future.

This does continue to create a murky situation involving Spider-Man and the world Sony is trying to create without him. Aside from Venom, the studio also has films based on Black Cat/Silver Sable, Morbius: The Living Vampire, Kraven the hunter, and Nightwatch  also in development and no word on if Spidey will even appear in any of those films.

The entire situation brings back bad memories of Sony trying to spin several films off their Amazing Spider-Man franchise, but this feels a bit more confusing because they are focusing on characters that feed off or are connected to the Spider-Man character. For now, fans will have to just wait and see if Venom can kickstart this Spidey-less film universe.

Venom arrives in theaters on October .

Do you guys see Tom Holland making an appearance in Venom? Let me know in the comments!
