The First Trailer For Tim Burton’s Live Action DUMBO Is Here

Read Time:2 Minute, 3 Second

Disney is going through their entire catalogue to remake all of their animated films as live action ones it seems. It has worked for them so far – Malificent, Beauty and the Beast, and The Jungle Book have all been smash hits for the Mouse House. Now comes the next entry in that venture – Tim Burton’s Dumbo. The first teaser for the movie has been released, and you can watch it below.

The cast is stellar. Colin Farrell plays the lead, supported by two Bat-tastic Burton staples: Michael Keaton and Danny DeVito.

This is just the next entry in a long line of live action remakes from Disney. Mulan, The Lion King and Aladdin are all in various stages of production right now. A Malificent sequel has been announced as well, with Angelina Jolie returning to the titular role.

Burton and Disney have worked together before, with Burton making two Alice in Wonderland movies for them. This seemed like a weird project for Burton to tackle, I thought something like Aladdin would suit him better. But that is why I don’t make these decisions – the aesthetics in the trailer are nice, and the CGI elephant is absolutely adorable.

Filmmaker and podcaster Kevin Smith saw the trailer, and his reaction to it was quite strong (and quite perfect).

What do you think of the movie? Does it peak your interest at all? Were you a fan of the cartoon movie as a kid? Did it elicit the same reaction as Kevin Smith?

Dumbo is in theaters everywhere in March of 2019.

From Disney and visionary director Tim Burton, the all-new grand live-action adventure “Dumbo” expands on the beloved classic story where differences are celebrated, family is cherished and dreams take flight. Circus owner Max Medici (Danny DeVito) enlists former star Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell) and his children Milly (Nico Parker) and Joe (Finley Hobbins) to care for a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him a laughingstock in an already struggling circus. But when they discover that Dumbo can fly, the circus makes an incredible comeback, attracting persuasive entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton), who recruits the peculiar pachyderm for his newest, larger-than-life entertainment venture, Dreamland. Dumbo soars to new heights alongside a charming and spectacular aerial artist, Colette Marchant (Eva Green), until Holt learns that beneath its shiny veneer, Dreamland is full of dark secrets.
