Woody Harrelson Confirms His Involvement with VENOM (And Its Sequel!)

Read Time:1 Minute, 51 Second

Venom is a movie that is coming that has zero connection to Tom Holland and the Spider-Man series he is associated with (unless you want to put stock in an old rumor). But that is neither here nor there. The film is happening, and rumors were that the bad guy in the film was going to be Carnage.

It was thought originally that Riz Ahmed might encompass that role. Then seemingly out of nowhere, a rumor came about that Woody Harrelson was in the movie and that he was playing Carnage.

Well in an interview with the good folks over at Collider, Harrelson confirms he is in the movie, and adds a bit more information:

I’m in a little fraction of this movie, but I’ll be in the next one, you know? So I haven’t read that script, but anyways, just rolled the dice.

It makes it sound like its just a cameo in this movie, and he will have a proper role in Venom 2: Maverick or whatever it is called. So, if Carnage is the main villain in the first movie, it probably isn’t Harrelson playing him.

When asked how it came to be for him to be in the movie, it was because of his involvement in Zombieland from director Ruben Fleischer, who also direct Venom.

Well, you know, Ruben Fleischer did Zombieland, directed it, so that was a big part of it. And also, Tom Hardy, I really respect and think he’s one of the great actors. So that, coupled with what is a really wonderful script, I felt like I kind of should, you know?

Collider then asked if he was allowed to reveal who he was playing, or if that was under wraps, and Harrelson had a great response:

I thought it was under wraps that I’m even in the movie.

It kind of is. While it is a badly kept secret now, it is still meant to be a secret. So whoever he is playing is important. Carnage? Morbius? Uncle Ben? (Joking). But it is obviously someone of importance if it is meant to be secret.

We will find out, when Venom hits theaters October 5. 2018.
