Vin Diesel’s BLOODSHOT Cast Adds Three, And It’s Going To Launch A Valiant Cinematic Universe?

Read Time:1 Minute, 26 Second

The Valiant Universe is taking shape. While it was known that Vin Diesel would be playing the titular character in Bloodshot, nothing else was known about the film until now.

Variety reports that Eiza Gonzalez (Baby Driver), Michael Sheen (Masters of Sex, Frost/Nixon) and Sam Heughan (Outlander) have been cast in the movie.

Bloodshot is about a mortally wounded soldier resurrected with cutting-edge nanotechnology and tasked with rounding up superpowered outcasts known as “harbingers.” “Bloodshot” was created by Kevin Van Hook, Don Perlin, and Bob Layton in 1992. The project has big franchise potential at Sony.

The studio plans to make this the first of five shared universe movies, which means that Gonzalez is probably locked into a long contract and would be unable to portray Catwoman in a Birds of Prey movie. But you never know.

What is interesting, is that Bloodshot is already being portrayed on screen in Ninjak Vs. The Valiant Universe. It is a 6 episode series, and is streaming over at ComicBook.com. In that version, Bloodshot is portrayed by former Power Rangers legend Jason David Frank.

So you might say Diesel has big shoes to fill….

The film is expected to be directed by Dave Wilson.

I don’t know much about these characters, but whenever I hear anyone automatically planning a shared universe, it concerns me. The focus should be making an exceptional film with a strong story first, then building off of that. That way the franchise won’t fall the way of the “Dark Universe”.

No word on who they are playing, but fans of the Valiant Universe could probably make pretty reasonable guesses.

What do you think of the casting?
