BREAKING: Batwoman And Gotham Are Coming To The Arrowverse!

Read Time:2 Minute, 8 Second

Arrow star Stephen Amell recently teased that he’d be making a major announcement at The CW’s Upfronts. When we reported on it, RTF writer Matt Vernier suggested one of the cool things that announcement could be is the arrival of a member of the Bat Family to the Arrowverse. Well, looks like Matt got his wish because Amell has just revealed that Batwoman and the city of Gotham are going to become a part of The CW’s DC shared universe!

Here’s how Amell made the big Batwoman reveal:

“We’re incredibly excited to announce that we’ll be doing another crossover event this fall on the CW, and we’ll be introducing a new character. For the very first time appearing, we’ll be fighting alongside Batwoman, which is terrific. The crossover is going to make it to air in December. I need to leave right now and start filming it.”

This is the first time ever that Batwoman make a live-action appearance on any screen,” CW President Mark Pedowitz added after Amell’s announcement moments ago. He went on to reveal “We are adding the city of Gotham into the Arrowverse,” he confirmed. “This will be another full-throttled, action-packed event.”

Batwoman’s involvement in the Arrowverse will be featured in the next big crossover event housed on the network. In the past, CW properties The Flash, Supergirl, and The Legends of Tomorrow have joined up with Amell’s Arrow for major team-up events that span across episodes of each series involved. The next one is scheduled to arrive in December, airing on three consecutive nights from Sunday to Tuesday. During that crossover is when we’ll apparently get our first look at The CW’s version of Gotham, as well as the first ever live-action appearance of Batwoman.

For those unfamiliar with the character, here’s how she’s described on DC Wikia:

Batwoman is Katherine Kane, a vigilante who operates in Gotham City.

The original Batwoman, Kathy Kane, acted as a female counterpart to Batman with her side-kick Bat-Girl and romantically pursued Batman.

In the modern era, her legacy is taken up by the army brat Kate Kane, a lesbian expelled from West Point due to her sexuality. She is Bruce Wayne’s cousin – her father Jacob Kane being the brother of Martha Kane Wayne, Bruce’s mother. Kate Kane has been involved with the Batman Family, Batman Incorporated, and the Female Furies.

Let the speculation begin as to which version of Batwoman they’re going to go with for the Arrowverse.
