The cast of Star Wars: Episode IX is beginning to take shape, and with filming gearing up to start soon, more news is coming out.
A couple weeks ago, there was a casting call that the good folks over at ThatHashtagShow brought us that could potentially tease an Expanded Universe character re-entering the mix. Now they are back with a new casting call for a new female character:
Casting director Nina Gold is on the hunt for an “ethnic female”, with a strong preference for an African-American, 18-26 years old, to portray a character by the name of Caro. Caro is described as having a “captivating naturalness and ease to her manner.” Caro is a “leader and problem solver, smart with a great sense of humor and a strong will. All this comes to her effortlessly. ”
While Caro might not be the final characters name, it is interesting to try and find out where she will fit in to the story. While the description has her a bit on the young side, the characteristics sound like a good replacement for General Leia…well, as good as it can be anyway (she’s irreplaceable)!
Of course, she could always be an ally of the First Order instead. They could definitely use someone like that, instead of bumbling Hux and hot-headed Ben Solo.
We will find out more in due time, but probably not until after Solo: A Star Wars Story has had its moment in the sun in a few weeks.
Star Wars: Episode IX is scheduled to be released at Christmas time next year.
