Gabriel Luna Has Been Cast as the New TERMINATOR

Read Time:1 Minute, 39 Second

Just like how Sarah Conner couldn’t stop Skynet, we can’t stop Terminator movies from happening. A new one, featuring original stars Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger, and produced by James Cameron is happening. But new casting news makes it a little bit better.

Deadline reports that Gabriel Luna – best known to a lot of super hero fans as Ghost Rider on Agents of SHIELD – has been cast as the newest model Terminator.

The new film will be helmed by Deadpool director Tim Miller. It is said that this will be a direct sequel to Terminator 2 and will ignore the other sequels, which is what most of the audience does anyway.

Not only does Luna have a geeky connection through Agents of SHIELD, but also has one to Revenge of the Fans. He starred alongside RotF editor-in-chief Mario-Francisco Robles’ late aunt Elizabeth Peña in El Rey’s Matador.

Luna is an intense actor. I really enjoyed his portrayal of Robbie Reyes/Ghost Rider on Agents of SHIELD. For him to be the (presumably evil) Terminator, opposite Schwarzenegger is an intriguing notion to me.

The Halloween franchise is doing what The Terminator one will do, making a sequel way later that essentially ignores other chapters in the movie. Terminator: Genisys was a massive misfire, and that movie was supposed to launch a whole new trilogy. For the franchise to get back to basics is the best thing they could do other than just leaving it alone. I am unsure how they will utilize Schwarzenegger, but his first words after waking up from extensive open heart surgery recently were “I’m back”. He definitely still loves the franchise, and his involvement will get some people to buy tickets who ordinarily wouldn’t.

The film is set for release on November 22, 2019, so we should be hearing more about the movie before it starts filming soon.

How do you feel about the new Terminator movie? Does Luna’s casting intrigue you?
