Grab your guitars, Wyld Stallyn fans.

In an interview with EW, Bill & Ted series writer Ed Solomon said that progress on the third film – Bill & Ted Face the Music – seems be moving right along and we may be getting more news in the near future.

We are hoping to close a deal with some financiers. Hopefully within the next month or so, we’ll have news that will stick.

Audiences were introduced to Alex Winter’s Bill and Keanu Reeves’ Ted in 1989’s Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, where the duo traveled back in time to gather historical figures, such as Abraham Lincoln and Napoleon, for a school project. The film’s sequel – Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey – saw the San Dimas buds journey through the afterlife and face-off against William Sadler’s Death in a series of games, including Twister and Battleship.

Set to be directed by Galaxy Quest’s Dean Parisot, Face the Music would find middle-aged Bill and Ted struggling to complete the great musical masterpiece that their mentor, Rufus (the late George Carlin), hinted at at the end of Excellent Adventure would turn the world into a utopia. The film will also see the return of Sadler’s Death and is being treated as A Christmas Carol but with Bill and Ted.

The project has seen its share of ups and downs since its inception, but the film’s writers, along with Reeves and Winter, seem confident enough that the third film will get made and more than live up to the legacy of the first two films.
