“It’s time,” Patty Jenkins told Entertainment Weekly last year, when asked if we could expect to see Diana come to the United States in Wonder Woman 2. “The story will take place in the U.S., which I think is right. She’s Wonder Woman. She’s got to come to America.”
And now, thanks to a report by Omega Underground, we seem one step closer to that promise coming true.
According to the site, known for having the goods when it comes to production logistics, Wonder Woman 2 will be filming stateside this June. What’s more is that the location they’ll be filming in is listed as Northern Virginia/District of Columbia, which means they’ll be filming in and around the nation’s capitol: Washington, D.C.
That has some pretty obvious implications about the plot for Wonder Woman 2, since it’s not exactly a stretch to expect to see her interacting with the United States government, and possibly fighting alongside them. Earlier rumors about the film’s plot include the idea that the film will be set during the Cold War era, so it’s quite possible we’ll see Diana lace up her boots to take on Russia.
If that’s the case, it means Wonder Woman 2 could be quite topical.
Between this news, and the recent signing of Kristen Wiig as the villainous Cheetah, it looks like things are really shaping up for Wonder Woman 2. The sequel to last year’s smash hit is set to come out on November 1, 2019.
