SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Sequel Searching For Villain and New High School Lead

Read Time:1 Minute, 52 Second

We don’t know much about the future of the MCU after Avengers: Infinity War, but we do know for sure that one of the movies coming is a sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming. Now there is a little more information on what is to come for the webslinger.

ThatHashtagShow has a report that shows the Spider-Man sequel is seeking a villain:

[T]he script calls for a villain with “elevated ideas” but that, in an interesting twist, not only has the studio not pinned down the ethnicity of the villain, but they’re also open to auditioning male and female leads, ages 30-45,  for the part!

“Elevated” ideas can mean a lot of different things. A progressive thinker, someone obsessed with flying or someone who works for an elevator company. While it’s probably not that last one, it is difficult to deduce who they are thinking about for the villain, especially since gender doesn’t seem to matter for them either.

The second bit of casting is for a classmate of Peter Parker’s. ThatHashtagShow says:

They’re also searching for an 18-24-year-old male lead of any ethnicity for a high school student

It is possible that these two Spider-Man casting notices are related. Meaning if they find the ethnicity for one, that is the one they will go with for the other. Even if they don’t, it doesn’t mean the characters couldn’t be related – after all, (spoilers) Adrian Toomes (Michael Keaton) was the father of Liz (Laura Harrier) in the first one. What if the student is Harry Osborn, and the other is his father Norman, or they gender swap it, and make it his mother (Norma?) instead? The Green Goblin could be coming, and a gender-swapped one at that. I could see someone like Charlize Theron pull off a Green Goblin for the MCU.

On the other hand, they could be completely unrelated. Either way, we will find out soon enough.

Who do you think the villain will be? Are the two new character related? Who do you want to see as the Spider-Man’s next villain? I hope my dream of seeing Vincent D’Onfrio’s Kingpin square off against Holland’s Spider-Man comes true some day.
