Andy Serkis Knows Snoke’s Backstory, Might Be Used Later

Read Time:1 Minute, 40 Second

Of everything to come out of Disney’s Star Wars contributions, the mystery around Supreme Leader Snoke has the most talked about and theorized. When Star Wars: The Last Jedi gave an end to Snoke’s story, some thought that would be it.

But if what Andy Serkis – the brilliant actor who brought Snoke to life – says is true, we may not have seen the last of the Evil First Order Leader.

We wanted him to have a great deal of mystery, but we did … J.J. [Abrams] and I discussed it, and Rian [Johnson] and I did discuss backstories to him, where he came from. I’ve been asked to not shed anything, should we want to bring him back in any way whether [in a] prequel or whatever. I think there’s something cool about that. It still does remain a mystery for people. I know that some people find it incredibly frustrating, but I think it allows for further exploration and layering at a further point.

This doesn’t necessarily mean we will see Snoke again, it just means Lucasfilm is giving themselves the security of being able to use Snoke again if the situation calls for it. But what it does mean is that there is a story and a history for him, even if we don’t know it.

I don’t expect to see Snoke: A Star Wars Story any time soon…or ever really. But with all of the movies announced outside of the Skywalker Saga, it is possible he pops up in one of those. If I had to bet, however, I would put my money on him getting a novel or two about him, like how Thrawn and Tarkin have. With Disney launching their own streaming app next year, and Star Wars shows being a big part of that – Snoke could be explored in a television series as well.

Are you excited for a potential Snoke backstory? Or were you satisfied with what we got from Abrams and Johnson?
