Lucasfilm Registers Trademarks for STAR WARS RESISTANCE

Read Time:1 Minute, 9 Second

Disney is continuing to expand the Star Wars brand beyond just the Skywalker saga.

With plans already in motion, including Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss and The Last Jedi director Rien Johnson each making their own respective film trilogies, one more project may have just surfaced.

According to Star Wars fan site Yakface, Lucasfilm has filed four trademarks for something called Star Wars Resistance. The trademarks are filed for merchandise, but nothing else is known about this title.

Speculation has led some to believe that Resistance may be the title of a new Star Wars film or series that Disney is wanting to put on their new streaming service. Disney CEO Bob Iger has said in the past that Disney is looking to make original content based on their most popular IPs exclusively for the service that’s launching in 2019.

Another possibility is that Resistance may replace Star Wars Rebels on Disney XD. Rebels is currently in the midst of its fourth – and final – season. It would make sense for Disney to find a substitute to fill the gap after that series ends.

The speculation will surely continue until Disney and Lucasfilm finally unveil what Resistance is. One thing’s for certain: more Star Wars isn’t a bad thing.

What do you guys think Star Wars Resistance is? Let me know in the comments!
