It’s Official! Chris Tucker Confirms RUSH HOUR 4!
That’s right folks! Detective James Carter, played by Chris Tucker, and Detective Inspector Lee, played by Jackie Chan, will reunite for another back flippin’ and butt kickin’ investigation in Rush Hour 4!
The original Rush Hour focused on Tucker and Chan’s characters as they meet from two different parts of the world and two different styles of doing detective work. The movie was a surprise hit earning a whopping $244.4 million worldwide at the box office against a conservative $33 million dollar budget. The movie did so well that two more Rush Hour films were ordered bringing the boys back together for some more fun but the idea of a fourth remained in fans’ thoughts.
Chan had already confirmed that he would return to the series last year, but Tucker has remained mum about his possible involvement until now. Speaking on ESPN’s podcast The Plug, he let the world know that he and Chan will be bringing back their best comedy and action to the series rounding out a fourth installment.
“It’s happening. This is gonna be the rush of all rushes. Jackie is ready and we want to do this so that people don’t ever forget it.”
At the moment, we still don’t know when production will be under way as neither Tucker or Chan have mentioned anything in that regard. Though, with both of them sounding off, I can only presume that it will happen sooner than later. Chalking off LA, Hong Kong and Paris as locations, I wonder where the duo will be meeting up next. Personally, I say they should bring them to New York or somewhere in South America? I can just imagine Tucker riffing while being in Brazil and seeing the beautiful women everywhere with Chan trying to maintain his professional demeanor. Love it!
The big question though, is will Brett Ratner return to direct? I mean… considering the recent slew of bad press he’s been receiving with sexual assault allegations, I don’t see how the movie would get the green light with him in the directors chair. Granted, Rush Hour is his baby, but… I don’t see people running to theaters in support of him either. Who knows?
What do you think about Rush Hour 4? Great news or a decade past its time? Sound off in the comments.
